01. Listen
The Dumont competes the trio of buildings on the Albert Embankment on the south bank of the River Thames to be delivered by St James. Designed by Internationally recognised David Walker Architects, the instruction was to establish a range of timber veneered door and frame sets which sympathetically endorse the buildings elegant and contemporary style of architecture to create chic apartments designed for modern living. All door and frame sets were required to achieve stringent fire, acoustic and security requirements.
O2. Plan
Integrated Doorset Solutions worked in close collaboration with developer, St. James and specialist joinery installer, Pantera Carpentry, to provide doorsets for the apartment entrances, interiors and communal areas in accordance with the brief. Each door type required a bespoke design and testing to ensure the aesthetic and functional performance of the specification was achieved.
O3. Build
Apartment interior doors were constructed using the Ovi range from Integrated Doorsets specified to feature a Betulla engineered veneer with communal areas finished in a Caleidolegno veneer. Entrance doors were supplied with a high security core finished with a Tabu manufactured veneer and were designed and tested to provide PAS24 level security, with FD30 fire and 35RwdB acoustic ratings. A range of pocket doors were also supplied using an Enduracor® construction with the internal structure of the doors modified to accommodate a top hung sliding mechanism.
O4. Deliver
Overall, 1,500 doorsets were supplied to the project over a 6 month period in phased deliveries to match the project build programme. Doorsets were factory manufactured complete with door leaves, frames, glazing, seals and morticed ironmongery. Installation was carried out by specialist contractor Pantera Carpentry who fitted the doorsets on site and completed the installation of face fitted ironmongery, frames and architraves. Doors were fitted with concealed closers and a special knurled stainless steel suite of ironmongery and a Glutz Mint locking system. The project is the final building in the St James development on the Albert Embankment site and will open in 2019.
