Imperial College London is a public research university with its primary campus located in Kensington. ICL is organised into faculties of science, engineering, medicine and business, with an emphasis on emerging technology and its application. The brief was to meet the usual rigorous standards of safety and practicality in an environment of inspiring spaces and teaching areas that challenge an open mind.
O2. Plan
Postformed doors and frames were factored into the design planning, using appropriate coloured PVC faces, stainless steel plates, glazing beads and ironmongery. On a basic level, the doorsets needed to be durable, easy to maintain and match the existing colour scheme. However, given the nature of such an environment and getting deeper into the project, it became clear that it would require a comprehensive specification from our portfolio of products.
03. Build
Our Plasform doorsets faced in Acrovyn’s Cobalt PVC were supplied throughout, hung on stainless steel hinges. Up to 60 minutes fire resistance and 40 RwdB performances were achieved, through our Designer ranges including Ovi, Enduracor and Audiodor constructions. Vision panels were glazed using a mixture of stainless steel trims and the Trueglaze system. Stainless steel plates and ironmongery complemented the doorset facings.
O4. Deliver
Integrated Doorsets were pleased to be a key supplier to ICL and successfully deliver our doorsets, especially for such a landmark institution in London, voted the 3rd best student city in the world. Projects such as these in the Education sector enable us to continue to develop our product range for similar exciting multi-use environments.
