We are proud to have contributed to the successful delivery of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, a flagship healthcare facility designed to serve communities across the Midlands. As a major infrastructure project, the hospital demanded a high level of precision, innovation, and collaboration, qualities that defined our approach throughout.
Our involvement began with a clear understanding of the hospital’s complex design, which included over 40 distinct zones, each with its own functional and regulatory requirements. From high-sterility operating theatres to diagnostic imaging units and general wards, every area required a tailored solution. We worked closely with the project team and the NHS Trust to finalise detailed designs and manufacturing schedules, ensuring that each element aligned with the hospital’s vision and met stringent healthcare standards.
Collaboration was key to the project’s success. We participated in regular design meetings, offering both technical expertise and practical input to refine specifications. To streamline the approval process and improve clarity for all stakeholders, we developed a bespoke coding system for our doorsets. This innovation not only accelerated approvals but also helped the hospital team visualise how each component would function within the wider environment.
Our manufacturing phase began in November 2020 and followed a carefully phased delivery strategy. Frames were delivered first, followed by doors, to align with the construction programme and minimise disruption on site. In total, we supplied approximately 2,800 frames, 4,500 doors, and 280 screens, including specialist doorsets designed for areas requiring radiation shielding and infection control.
As the project progressed, we remained actively involved, providing on-site support to address emerging challenges and ensure every doorset met the highest standards of performance. This included making minor repairs and adjustments to ensure a seamless fit and finish across all installations. Our commitment to quality and responsiveness helped ensure the hospital was ready to open with fully operational systems in place.
